The current classifications in the unincorporated areas of Taney County are a 6/9. The class 6 applies to areas within 1000 feet of an approved water source. The class 9 applies to areas over 1000 feet from an approved water source, but with-in five road miles of a fire station.
The Village of Bull Creek is a class 4.
The City of Hollister, Rockaway Beach and the village of Merriam Woods are a class 5.
The Village of Kirbyville is a class 6.
The Western Taney County Fire District officially started operations on January 1983 after the voters had established it on November 2, 1982.
*The original ISO rating was a class 9.
*The districts first evaluation was completed during July of 1983. The first rating went into effect in January 1984 with a split classification of 8/9. The class 8 applied to areas within 1000 feet of an approved water source.
*After a reevaluation in early 1995 the split classification of 6/9 went into effect on
June 1, 1995. The class 6 applied to areas within 1000 feet of an approved water source.
*After an evaluation during the summer of 2006 the following changes went into effect:
*As of October 1, 2007 the City of Hollister became a class 5.
*As of February 1, 2008 the village of Merriam Woods became a class 5.
*As of April 1, 2008 the village of Bull Creek became a class 4.
*As of April 1, 2008 the village of Kirbyville became a class 6.
*As of April 1, 2008 the City of Rockaway Beach became a class 5.
*The unincorporated portions of the County are still under evaluation.
